The Pitt-Titusville nursing degree program has been placed on provisional approval status by the PA State Board of Nursing, effective Dec. This status is permitted by the State Board of Nursing for no more than two years. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine’s Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP) is for outstanding high school seniors who have been admitted to the University of Pittsburgh as undergraduates and are interested in attending the University’s medical school after completing their undergraduate degree(s). The undergraduate Office of Admissions provides information. Pittsburgh is home to a number of reputable nursing programs. These include traditional colleges like Chatham University, University of Pittsburgh, Everest Institute, and La Roche College, as well as specialized nursing institutions like St. Margaret School of Nursing, Ohio Valley General Hospital, and West Penn Hospital School of Nursing.

Students interested in the schools below begin their University studies in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences taking prerequisite courses. Transfer is typically at the junior year level. Exception: traditional age freshmen apply at the sophomore level for College of General Studies (CGS) majors. Non-traditional freshmen (out of high school for two or more years) and transfers may apply for direct admission to CGS.

Certificate Programs

Certificate programs enable students to complete a concentrated area of study in addition to their major. Certificates typically require 18-24 credits and are noted on a student's academic transcript.
